An aid in the adsorption of toxins in dogs, cats, and other animals.
INGREDIENTS
Activated charcoal, kaolin, preservatives, suspending agents, and water q.s.
DOSAGE
Give orally 10 to 20 mL per kg body weight (5 to 10 mL per lb) by causing
the animal to consume the calculated quantity. The product may be given
as is or mixed with a small amount of cold water. Consult a veterinarian
about delivery by stomach tube if needed.
Discard within 48 hours after opening.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Activated Charcoal Suspension should not be given in conjunction with oral
medications as the charcoal may absorb the therapeutic agent.
Maintain patient hydration.
Monitor for 4 hours after use for signs of hypernatremia (ataxia,
tremors, seizures).
PRECAUTIONS
If catharsis is indicated, Activated Charcoal Suspension with Sorbitol
should be used initially.
Tests for ethylene glycol must be conducted before Activated Charcoal
Suspension is given to prevent false positive reactions.
